Education Internships with Theatre Aspen School

Announcing Spring Youth Production Student Internships for

Each Intern will meet directly with Director/Choreographer Alie Walsh and Producer Graham Northrup to learn the ins and outs of being a Creative Team member or Production Staff member, then assist with bringing off a stellar show running April 13-15, 2017 at the Wheeler!

Theatre Aspen School seeks a limited number of dedicated High School students for the following internship positions:

Assistant Director/Choreographer Intern (2)

Meets with Director/Choreographer Alie Walsh and other Creative Team members prior to rehearsals to talk about the show, specific characters, overall vision of the show and learns choreography. Teaches that choreography independently to small groups of students. Takes notes during cleaning sessions, and works with small groups on cleaning specifics. Takes notes during runs, works with individual cast members on memorizing lines and helps keep an eye out for character choices. 2 Assistnants needed -  one to attend Tuesday rehearsals and one for Thursday rehearsals. Both will attend for Tech/Performance week (April 10-15). Time committment: Approx 30 hours. Begins February 7.

Costume Coordinator Intern (1)

Meets with Director/Choreographer Alie Walsh and other Creative Team members to discuss overall look of the show. All cast members will be bringing in two options for their character - Costume intern will decide which goes in the show. Keep a detailed Google spreadsheet of each cast member and his or her costume. Make an informed choice on colors based off of character and stage picture. Coordinate aquisition and tracking of extra costume pieces - most of these will be found in Theatre Aspen storage. Starts attending rehearsals March 12. Time committment: Approx 20 hours.ment). Initial meetings begin early February.

Junior Company Dance Captain/Wrangler (2-4)

Meets with Director/Choreographer Alie Walsh and other Creative Team members prior to the Saturday clinic to learn choreography for the song Hola Lola. Lead a group of Kindergartners, 1st-, 2nd-, or 3rd Graders, and help them learn their choreography, entrances and exits. You will keep track of all Junior Company members in your group during dress rehearsal(s)/performances, lead drama games with them in their dressing room, and make sure they make their entrance for their performance. Junior Company Clinic: Saturday April 8; Tech/Performance week: April 11-15; Time Commitment: Approx10-12 hour.  Initial meetings begin early late March.

Theatre Aspen School is seeking interns for our 2017 Summer season! 


The Theatre Aspen School internship program is designed to offer upperclass high school students and recent high school graduates with a pre-professional experience in arts education and administration. Past Theatre Aspen School interns have served as teaching assistants, administrative assistants, assistant directors and assistant stage managers and production assistants on our programs and productions. Education Interns will work with the Director of Education and Education Associate to meet the needs of the organization, with optimal placement to maximize the intern's individual aspirations and experience.

This is an unpaid internship which offers a small stipend to offset expenses. Additionally, interns may qualify for complimentary tickets to Theatre Aspen and Theatre Aspen School productions. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer housing to Education Interns.
