SEPTEMBER 5 - OCTOBER 10 | DRAMA GAMES, DANCE

Everybody wants to be a cat in this dance and drama after school program! Create your own cat personality complete with ears and tail to wear while you boogie down to “Everybody wants to be a cat” from Disney’s Aristocats.

CHARACTER FACTORY
OCTOBER 17 - DECEMBER 19* | STORYTELLING, MOVEMENT, DESIGN

Join us for Dinner at Panda Palace in this character-based after school program! Actors will learn how to take familiar characters and build an original story along with an original character design to use in their final storytelling showcase for friends and family.

Who: Open to all students in Kindergarten through 1st Grade.

When: Wednesday, October 17th to December 19th from 2:10p - 3:30p. *No class on 10/31 or 11/21

Create a magical world where dragons live and boogie down in this after school program. Actors will create their own dragons to live by the sea with “Puff the Magic Dragon” in their final showcase for friends and family.

Where are the wild things? They’re at Theatre Aspen, of course! Actors will create their own world where wild things live, along with an original beast persona, and share the story Where The Wild Things Are in a showcase for friends and family.

Explore the bounds of your imagination on this voyage to another world. Inspired by Journey, actors will create an original play told by puppets of their own design in a final storytelling showcase for friends and family.

BROADWAY MELODIES

You don’t have to grown up in this music and drama after-school program! Actors will explore never Neverland, create pirate personas and sing “I Won’t Grown Up!” from Peter Pan in their showcase for friends and family.

Who: Open to all students in 2nd through 4th Grade.

When: Wednesday, January 16th to February 27th from 2:10p - 3:30p.

Gear up for The Great White Way with this dance-driven, 6-week program. Learn a solid warm-up you can do at home, practice your technique, and show off your hard work by learning two stylized dances.

Who: Open to all students in 5th through 8th Grade.

STORYCASTERS
ASPEN | STORYTELLING and PODCASTING

You have a story to tell. Now you have the platform to share it to the WORLD! Let your voice be heard with our new StoryCasters program, where you will learn how to tell an great story -  be it personal or fiction, funny or dramatic - and then record it as a podcast that can be heard by literally anyone on earth! Under the guidance of Graham Northrup, you will hear examples of other great personal narratives, and craft your own story. Then, learn storytelling techniques that will help make an effective podcast, which will be professionally recorded and then distributed by Theatre Aspen.

Who: Open to all students in 8th through 12th Grade.

When: Thursday, September 13th - October 18th, 4p - 5:30p

How do you connect with the words on the page, elevating them to action and a connection with your scene partner? Hone these skills and learn how to employ them in the rehearsal room during this acting-focused 6 week program that gets you ready to take on any role.

WINTER CONSERVATORY
NEWSIES

“Set in turn-of-the century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged "newsies." When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what's right! Featuring the now classic songs “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe,” Newsies is packed with non-stop thrills and a timeless message, perfect for the whole family and every audience.”

SPRING CONSERVATORY 
AN INSPECTOR CALLS 

A family gathers to celebrate an engagement. Their dinner is interrupted by the arrival a Police Inspector, who begins asking each of them about a young woman who appears to have committed suicide the night before. At first, it seems there is no connection. But as the evening wears on, the truth unfolds as the family’s seemingly perfect existence unravels around them. Themes of individual and community responsibility emerge in this gripping mystery, complete with a shocking twist that will leave audiences guessing - and contemplating - for months.

SPRING YOUTH PRODUCTION
THE PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH JR

The exceptional tale of Milo, Tock and a certain magic tollbooth is brought splendidly to life on stage in The Phantom Tollbooth JR.Even surrounded by dozens of toys, Milo is bored. Nothing interests him at all... until he takes a trip through the Phantom Tollbooth. Transported to the Land of Wisdom, Milo is thrust into adventure when he must bring peace between two feuding kings who argue over whether “words” or “numbers” are most important in their kingdoms. Knee-deep in danger, language, and math along the way, Milo learns everything has a purpose. Upon his return home, he realizes there is never a reason to be bored in a world full of hidden discoveries.
