TUNE TIME
AUGUST 30 - OCTOBER 18 | MUSIC, MOVEMENT, AND DRAMA GAMES

TUNE in to this 8-week session that uses fun drama games, music and movement to boost confidence, increase creative thinking, and teach the fundamentals of performing. Taught by Education Associate Britney Kuehm, students will create their very own rain sticks and learn how music can motivate character creation.

Who: Open to all students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade. 

When: Wednesdays, August 30th to October 18th from 2:00p - 3:30p.

CHARACTER FACTORY
OCTOBER 25 - DECEMBER 20 | STORY DRAMA, CHARACTER CREATION, AND DRAMA GAMES

Create an assembly line of fun in our CHARACTER FACTORY session! Students will generate fully-developed characters through story drama and drama games, all while strengthening confidence and stage presence, working as an ensemble and crafting puppets.

Who: Open to all students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade. 

When: Wednesdays, October 25th to December 20th from 2:00p - 3:30p. 

Where: Aspen Elementary School

HAPPY FEET
JANUARY 10 - FEBRUARY 28 | DANCE AND DRAMA GAMES

Everything is rainbows and cupcakes in our HAPPY FEET session, grabbing inspiration from the movie Trolls as students dance their way to boosted confidence and encouraged imagination! In this 8-week session, students will create Trolls masks and learn physical awareness and coordination, all led by our Education Associate Britney Kuehm.

Who: Open to all students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade. 

When: Wednesdays, January 10th to February 28th from 2:00p - 3:30p.

PRIMARY STAGES
MARCH 7 - MAY 16

Join Education Associate Britney Kuehm in our PRIMARY STAGES session as students enact a short, scripted performance complete with simple props and costumes! Through this 8-week session, students will use their imagination to design and create props and costumes, enhance their confidence and work as an ensemble to put on an introductory performance for family and friends. Prerequisite: Students must have participated in another 8-week session prior to Primary Stages.

Who: Open to all students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade.

When: Wednesdays, March 7th to May 16th from 2:00p - 3:30p.

Grades 2-4

BROADWAY MELODIES
AUGUST 30 - OCTOBER 18 | MUSIC, MOVEMENT, AND DRAMA GAMES

Get ready for 8 weeks of showtunes, movement and drama games in our BROADWAY MELODIES session! Taught by this summer’s leading lady in Hairspray, Taylor Hartsfield, students will learn Broadway-style performance through song and dance, while also learning various aspects of drama through fun, engaging games.

Who: Open to all students in 2nd through 4th Grade.

When: Wednesdays, August 30th to October 18th from 2:00p - 3:30p.

DRAMATIC VOYAGES
OCTOBER 25 - DECEMBER 20 | CREATIVE DRAMATICS, CHARACTER CREATION, AND DRAMA GAMES

Sail off on an 8-week journey through our DRAMATIC VOYAGES session with veteran director and actor, Tammy Baar! Students will focus on the creation of characters in theatre, transform into these characters using their voice and body, and feel confident working as an ensemble through various drama games.

Who: Open to all students in 2nd through 4th Grade.

When: Wednesdays, October 25th to December 20th from 2:00p - 3:30p.

Where: Aspen Elementary School

FOOTLOOSE
JANUARY 10 - FEBRUARY 28 | BROADWAY DANCE, MODERN DANCE, AND DRAMA GAMES

Cut loose and kick off your Sunday shoes in our FOOTLOOSE session! For 8 weeks, students will learn the fundamentals of Broadway and Modern dance, gaining a sense of confidence in performing while focusing on physical control of their bodies. Students will also cooperate and work inclusively as a team within our drama games while learning basic theatre elements.

Who: Open to all students in 2nd through 4th Grade.

When: Wednesdays, January 10th to February 28th from 2:00p - 3:30p.

Where: Aspen Elementary School

STAGE TWO
MARCH 7 - MAY 16

In our STAGE TWO session, students will learn the basic fundamentals of acting, costumes and props in preparation for a short, memorized performance at the end of their 8-week program! Prerequisite: Students must have participated in another 8-week session prior to Stage Two.

Who: Open to all students in 2nd through 4th Grade.

When: Wednesdays, March 7th to May 16th from 2:00p - 3:30p.

CHARACTER FACTORY
SEPTEMBER 28 - NOVEMBER 16STORY DRAMA, CHARACTER CREATION, MUSIC, AND MOVEMENT

Create an assembly line of fun in our CHARACTER FACTORY session! Students will generate fully-developed characters through drama games, music and movement; they will also leave the 8-week session with increased confidence, stage presence, and experience working as an ensemble under the direction of our Education Associate, Britney Kuehm and our Hairspray leading lady, Taylor Hartsfield.

NEVERENDING STORIES
JANUARY 10 - FEBRUARY 28CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, DRAMA GAMES, AND PERFORMANCE SKILLS

Join NEVERENDING STORIES where students explore the basic elements of a story, character development, and performance skills with the help of a familiar children’s book and Teaching Artist, Amy Honey. Through this 8-week session students will use their imagination to design and create props, enhance their confidence and work as an ensemble to put on an introductory performance based off a book for family and friends.

Who: Open to all students in 1st Grade through 4th Grade.

When: Wednesday, January 10th to February 28th from 1:55p - 3:10p.

Middle and High School Programs


IMPROV I
SEPTEMBER 13 - OCTOBER 18 

Our IMPROV class is an introductory course to improvisation for middle school students. Under the direction of teaching artist Sonya Meyer, students will do various exercises and games to understand the fundamentals of improv, including the creation of a supportive environment and ensemble, the ability to say “Yes and...,” and building the confidence to act on impulse.

Who: Open to all students in 5th Grade through 8th Grade.

When: Wednesdays, September 13th to October 18th from 3:00p - 4:15p. 

Where: Theatre Aspen Studio (Located in the Red Bricks Center for the Arts)

Tuition: Only $120  

 

BROADWAY METHODS
OCTOBER 25 - DECEMBER 13

Theatre Aspen mainstage star Taylor Hartsfield (Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray), teaches you the fundamentals of musical theatre performance in this 7-week course. From music, to dance, to acting, students will build their skills, then show off in a final showcase.

Who: Open to all students in 6th Grade through 9th Grade.

When: Wednesdays, October 25th to December 13th from 2:30p - 3:45p. 

Where: Theatre Aspen Studio (Located in the Red Bricks Center for the Arts)

High School Programs

SCENE STUDY
SEPTEMBER 14 - OCTOBER 19

Actors and aspiring actors, this is your chance to really dive into your craft and learn both fundamental and advanced techniques. Through coaching, feedback and opportunities to act with scene partners, you will develop your ability to portray realistic characters, both in comic and dramatic scenes. These skills you learn here will serve you in both musicals and dramas, both on the stage and off!

Who: Open to all students in 9th Grade through 12th Grade.

When: Thursdays, September 14th to October 19th from 4:30p - 6:00p. 

Where: The Arts Campus at Willits (Located at The Temporary in Basalt) 

Tuition: Only $120  

 



Scholarships and payment plans are available. Theatre Aspen School has never turned away a student due to financial need.
