THEATRE ASPEN DOMINATES 2016 HENRY AWARDS

Theatre Aspen made a big splash Monday, July 18th, 2016 at the Colorado Theatre Guild (CTG) Henry Awards, taking home 8 awards, the most of all nominated theatres. We received 25 nominations for our 2015 summer repertory season, which included CABARET, Peter and the Starcatcher, Other Desert Cities and Junie B. Jones.

Executive Artistic Director Paige Price was present to accept the final and most coveted Outstanding Season by a Theatre Company award. Also in attendance was the director/choreographer of Cabaret and Peter and the Starcatcher Mark Martino, who was also nominated for Outstanding Director, and Jon Peterson, who opened the ceremony with a performance of “Willkommen.”

Outstanding Direction of a Play (for Other Desert Cities) - Sarna Lapine
Outstanding Lighting Design (for Peter and the Starcatcher) - Paul Black (triple nominee!)

Other Desert Cities was the most-nominated play of the season, with 9 nominations. The play was also nominated for Outstanding Production of a Play and Outstanding Ensemble Performance and garnered several acting nominations.

In January 2013, Theatre Aspen was named "Non Profit Business of the Year" in Aspen.  Theatre Aspen was also awarded the "Outstanding Regional Theatre" Henry Award in Denver in 2009.

Awards

Alison Luff (who got her Equity card at TA and recently joined WICKED as Elphaba) won a Best Supporting Actress Denver Post Ovation Award for her work as Olive in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.  Theatre Aspen also garnered the Colorado Theatre Guild Henry Award for "Outstanding Regional Theatre" in 2009.

Recent Denver Post Ovation Award nominees include Joan Hess (Best Actress in a Comic Role, Same Time Next Year), Beth Malone (Best Supporting Actress in a Musical Role, The Marvelous Wonderettes), Aaron Rhyne (Best Multimedia Integration, Vices: A Love Story), Julia Foran (Best Young Actor, Annie) and Sandy Duncan (Best Actress in a Comedic Role, Becky's New Car).
